Gramin Health Care
Gramin Health Care (GHC) is an inclusive business model that is accelerating last mile health delivery through Assisted Telemedicine. Through a unique combination of Technology and Walk-in-Health Centres, GHC has been creating access in underserved rural pockets. GHC also enables healthcare financing, community ownership and social behaviour change by developing an ecosystem around the access. This includes creating affordability through prepaid coverage annual family health cards, creating outreach through biweekly health camps, and by developing a rural service delivery chain of Village Health Ambassadors. The technology platform enables doctor consultation at every doorstep, capturing the citizen health information via Electronic Health Records, whereas the walk-in-health centres ensures that linkages are created in the healthcare continuum through locally recruited and trained healthcare professionals. Today there 120+ Walk-in-Health Centres (known as Gramin Health Centres) present across 7 states in India : Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. GHC has also started a cluster model in which 7-10 health centres have a hub, polyclinic which stations inhouse doctors, full fledged pharmacy, advanced diagnostics and other specialised treatments. Gramin has also been creating multi stakeholder partnerships with Private-Public and people to create a holistic healthcare system. Through various strategic alliances citizens now have healthcare at a distance they can travel, at a cost they can afford and with dignity they deserve.

According to Rural Health statistics 2014-2015, due to more than 25% shortages of public health centres in rural areas, it is estimated that 50% of beneficiaries travel more than 100 km to access quality care. Gramin Healthcare is accelerating an Alternative Healthcare Delivery access through an Assisted Telemedicine Model. Through combination of digital platform and lean light walk-in-clinics with focus on primary and preventive care, GHC ensures quality primary and preventive care at every underserved pocket. The digital platform ensures every rural citizen has access to doctor consultation, and Walk-in-Health Centre ensures that citizens have all round accessibility and availability of healthcare services through trained healthcare professionals. The asset lightheadedness of the model also enables GHC to replicate the model at an accelerated rate, thereby ensuring its scalability.
According to Household Consumer Expenditure report, rural households with monthly per capita expenditure (MPCE) of less than Rs 500, spend an average of Rs 407 on non-hospitalised treatment implying affordability is still one the biggest woes of the common citizen. Gramin Healthcare has created prepaid coverage Annual Family health card which enables a family to access basic healthcare services at price of less than a dollar for an year. This health card also enables them access to medicines, diagnostics, other healthcare products and advanced healthcare services at a subsidised rate.
Apart from accessibility and affordability, accountability also remains one of the biggest pillars of broken healthcare continuum in India. 38% of existing primary public health services in India are non operational.
Hence Gramin Healthcare goes beyond creating access to creating a rural healthcare ecosystem to create community ownership and social behaviour change. Biweekly outreach camps and awareness campaigns along with our partner network, and the rural service delivery chain of Village Health Ambassador ensures last mile connectivity in every village that our health centre caters to. This also ensures hand holding of citizens formally into the healthcare system, and enabling regular follow up with help of paramedics and Electronic Health Record, thereby accelerating healthcare utilisation behaviour. These initiatives have also created rural livelihood options as well as improve healthcare indicators.
